The Savoy Educational Trust celebrates its Golden Anniversary

The Trust celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a stunning reception for 250 guests at the Savoy on Wednesday 4th May 2011. The guest list consisted of representatives from the wide ranging projects the Trust has supported over the years including college principals, lecturers, students and leading figures from the hospitality industry.

Chefs prepared and cooked a selection of Asian, Spanish, English and American food with exciting dishes including assorted sashimi, squid and chorizo salad with lemon anchovy vinaigrette, crab meat fritters and chips and green martini with avocado salad and basil foam.

Ramon Pajares, the Chairman of the Savoy Educational Trust delivered an inspirational speech about the great work that the Trust has done over the past fifty years and shared with the guests a snapshot of the plans for the future.

Anne Pierce, CEO of Springboard UK spoke about how her organisation has worked closely with the Trust for 15 years and Vice-Chancellor, Peter John, from The University of West London shared the college's experience of how the £750,000 grant awarded by the Trust had been used to build a brand new state-of-the-art teaching and learning centre. 'The Savoy Educational Trust Leadership Development Suite' has supported numerous students and helped them to compete in hospitality on a global level.

Guests were presented with a copy of a special edition booklet; 'Making the Difference' with a forward written by HRH Prince Charles and a DVD showcasing a selection of projects.

Following the reception Ramon Pajares commented; "It was a truly great evening and a privilege to be hosting the event as the new chairman.  The Savoy Educational Trust has a tremendous track record in helping improve the standard of hospitality training and education in the UK today and I'm delighted that so many great people came along to show their support."
