Hospitality and catering students at Petroc's North Devon Campus are enjoying a brand new, state-of-the-art demonstration area in one of their training kitchens, thanks to funding from the Savoy Educational Trust.

The new area will allow lecturers to deliver professional and complex demonstrations, which will be broadcast on a large screen for all students to see.  Lecturers will also have access to a facility to record and play back the session, as well as view relevant online materials. "We are delighted to have this facility to assist the delivery of demonstrations and give our students a fantastic learning environment to prepare them for life in the industry," said John Gavin, a hospitality and catering trainer at the College.  Nicola Shapland, deputy head of the School of Lifestyle, agreed: "With the support of The Savoy Educational Trust we have been able to install a fantastic new kitchen facility which is hugely benefiting our trainee chefs.  The feedback from our current students has been very positive."
